WARNING - If you purchase MX-850 from Amazon, you will not get the password to download the Windows programming software.
If you don't purchase the MX-850 from a "authorized dealer" you don't get the password to download the windows software necessary to program the MX-850. Amazone is not considered "authorized"
The MX-850 if purchased from an authorized dealer the price is $400 which does not include programming. Programming is approximately $[...] per hour. Average time to program according to dealer is 1 hour.
The NX-RM820 is the SAME remote as MX-850 with a different badging. It is manufactured by "Universal Remote Control" for NXG coproration. I am very happy to report that the software to program this NX-RM820 is available for download from the NXG website at this link:

The NX-RM820 ships with the Remote and the serial cable needed to program the remote. The manual in the box is intended for the "end user" and only shows basic user functions.
You must have a PC with an open serial port, or you can purcase a USB to Serial Port converter to plug into.
You will need to download 3 more files to make the HELP buttons work. Make sure you name these files "exactly the same name" and "path" that the HELP BUTTON is looking for.

Make sure you downloaded the pdf files to correct path so when you click on the HELP button the files will open.
Save the files into this path:
C:\Program Files\Universal Remote Control, Inc\NX-RM820 Editor\xxxxxx
Where xxxxxx is the name of the PDF files after the = sign above.
The learning curve is a little steep, but it's worth it.
I very pleased with my puchase, I had to spend a couple of days learning the software, but it was worth it.
If you are having trouble reading the technical portion of this email. You should probably get it from an authorized dealer and have them program it for you.
