(More customer reviews)I'm a television producer/director using two Panasonic HVX200's at 24P and this Sennheiser wireless microhone. Thus far, we've shot 5 indoor/outdoor shows for two series with the microphone and I must say it's quite impressive. I'm not an audio expert but I know when something's working well. What's amazing to me is that these units use only two 1.5 volt AA batteries each AND the batteries generally last an entire 12 hour day! I have a 9V battery based Samson wireless microphone system that's downright voltage thirsty by comparison. (I have to replace the Samson batteries every couple of hours.) The sound quality of the Sennheiser is consistently excellent at various ranges with only an occasional audio hit or dropout. The main tme we've experienced the hits are when our subject is further away; say 75 feet or so. On those occasions, we've remedied the problem by either switching frequencies or by positioning the transmitter or receiver on a more direct line-of-sight orientation.
The construction of the mic and receiver are solid, top drawer all the way. I have NOT read the thick instruction manual, nor do I intend to. My cameraman knows enough to be able to change frequencies when need be, so that's fine by me.
So, in summary, this is an excellent microphone system. It works equally well indoors or out. The quality of the sound we've recorded with it is exceptional. Don't hesitate to make this your primary wireless microphone purchase.

(More customer reviews)While the look of the system is stylish, and does offer the feature of being wall-mounted I found the operation less than satisfactory. It is very easy to assemble. I was shocked at how loud the motor sounds when opening and closing the disk covers. Though, initially I figured I might as well get use to that. One of my first issues was sorting through MP3 albums. I have several disks of MP3's that have many artists as well as sub albums for each artist. The display of the system would only tell me the name of the album once I started playing the songs, not the artist. On other systems you can see the name of the album before actually having to play the album, and once playing it displays the artist information/track information as well. Hence the menu options were not exactly "user friendly." When selecting the next album there was a sort of lapse where the system would play a second or two of the previous track, from the previous album which was a sort of disturbing sound. Followed by this was silence and then the first track of the selected album would play. I thought this was peculiar but could over look it. What I could not over look was the fact that it skipped way too easily on disks. (MP3 and CD disks alike). On one of my CD's, bought from a store even, skipped awfully on a certain track. This disk was not scratched badly and seemed to have played fine in the past. When I played the same song from the same album in my portable CD/MP3 player, it played perfectly! So in my humble opinion, if this system is about three times as expensive then it should also play so well.
In troubleshooting I made sure the system was level and cleaned the laser heads to make sure it wasn't due to dust from shipping. The remote doesn't work at a distance of more than a few feet.
Ultimately, I did return the system. Thankfully Amazon.com is good about issuing returns in a timely manner! Buyer beware, although you may like this system more than I did.

Onkyo TX-SR876 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I have had this receiver for several weeks now. I was a little leary about purchasing this unit as it was being used in a room that does "double-duty" of being a place where I listen to high-end analog and digital music along with occasional use of a home-theatre. The primary purpose is music reproduction and I was tempted to go with tube-style amps and other gear in support of my vinyl record collection. But since there are always compromises in this area (space, money, etc) I decided to take a chance with this Onkyo. All I can say is WOW. I run 5.1 channels with bi-amplification on the front speakers (my one concession to music versus video). The sound reproduction is excellent. I have done a lot of comparison shopping and looked at a lot of different systems and I would have had to spend over $4-5K on hybrid tube amps to get sound better than this.
In terms of home theater, it is even better. It performs as advertised. Set-up was a breeze and the audessy is a pleasure to use and instantly "balanced" my room. For home theater use, it is incredible. Ground-shaking lows, booming sound when appropriate yet the most subtle sounds (such as dialogue at a low level) is outstanding. Some reviewers complain about it running hot. I have mine outside of any cabinet (top shelf of a component stand) and have run it for hours at 75-80% of max volume with no problems.
My two complaints are: The remote as the buttons are a bit hard to read in dim light (even with the back-lighting) and it only has 3 digital optical inputs. Given I use seperate CD and DVD players, along with a Laser Disc and other digital sources, I had to use the alternate digital cable connects. Not a big deal, I just expected more digital optical inputs.
In summary, if you are looking for a leading-edge video processing unit that has outastanding home-theater characterstics at a low price, then this is definitely it. Throw in the fact that it processes music far beyond the expectations one would have for solid-state receiver (especially at this price point) and you really have a great unit.
If you do decide to buy this, please note the dimensions and weight. This is a large, heavy receiver. And given the heat concerns of other posters, I would make sure it has plenty of "breathing room".

(More customer reviews)Bose claims that this system, with only two speakers and a subwoofer (Acoustimass module in Bose-speak), approaches the sound of a conventional 5 speaker system. This was evident the first night we listened to it. I had not yet taken down the rear speakers of my old surround-sound system, and my step-son commented that the sound of the movie was great coming from the rear speakers. They were no longer hooked-up! It's not a perfect surround-sound experience, but for two speakers and a subwoofer it's amazingly close. And the clarity! From old movies to newly recorded music, the detail if fantastic. The Acoustimass module delivers outstanding performance. The ease of setup was inline with Apple standards -- very simple directions, and the setup CD was a bonus. It's difficult to believe that three speakers and a media center replaced 6 speakers, a DVD player, a receiver, many and lengthy wires, with the end-result being a far more satisfying experience. Oh! The universal remote actually works for all my devices! I suppose I have to list a "con", so I'll say that $1000.00 for a home theater system is pricy, and should indeed provide a lot of bang for the buck. Yet the 3-2-1 Series II delivers on these expectations. I highly recommend this home theater system.

(More customer reviews)While out searching for a decent sound system for our home theater. We began to realize our limitations. 1st, there is no clear back wall for us to mount rear surround speakers. 2nd, there is no crawl space or attic to run cabling nor do we have carpet to hide unsightly wires.
These setbacks led us to the Bose 321 media center. I found this product basically by accident and was really impressed with the sound quality. We picked one up and set it up immediately.
The system has been pretty flawless, only thing I would change physically is the cable that connects the Sub unit to the media center could have been a bit longer to better suit the directions. It requires the unit to be 3 feet from the TV, but never took into consideration that someone might want it on the opposite side of the TV from the media center. If this was a standard optical cable or some other form of cable, it would have been no problem. This however is a propriatary cable that I have never seen before :shrugs:
I also have been having trouble programming my Tivo remote to work with this unit. It appears that BOSE has stuck to the same IR schematics throughout it's history in making audio equipment. Very few of their receivers use IR, as they have opted for the more versitile RF models. However, their standard remote code does not work with this unit. I have been unable to track down a working code for my Tivo thus far.
All in all I would definately reccomend this to anyone with space limitations as well as constructual problems that might limit the possibilities for your home theater system.
