(More customer reviews)The touch display is really bad - my fingers aren't particularly fat, yet choosing a menu item requires incredible patience and precision - or you end up selecting an option you never wanted. The menu and font designs, the screen sensitivity - pretty bad. The wifi connection keeps dropping. I've been through a number of software upgrades and after each, I either have had no wifi connectivity, or at best it drops after an hour or two. Would NOT buy this product again.

Denon Networking Client Dock with WiFi for iPod Review

(More customer reviews)Though expensive it is worth every penny! Hook-up was fairly easy and connecting it to my wifi was simple. Having a menu of all my music on screen and being able to control it by remote control is so cool! Streaming internet radio is simple as it is built in to the menu system. Click the "Browse/Remote" button on the remote and you can listen to Pandora or Slacker radio through your stereo. Start up Microsoft Media Player on a networked computer and it automatically detects the Denon dock and allows you to setup a media server with an on screen menu. It is well built and sleek looking. I love this device almost as much as my iPod Touch.

Pioneer Elite SC-09TX - AV network receiver - 10.2 channel Review

(More customer reviews)I have been looking at this receiver for almost a year. My wife surprised me with it for Christmas/Anniversary gift. Well, i have to say it better than I have ever expected. I was able to Bi-amp my speakers now and I have never heard and experienced audio quality like I have now. Not only is the audio quality second to none, the video quality is great. This unit has many features for making home theatre a piece of cake to setup. I highly recommend this unit for anyone looking for the best in a high end receiver.

Pioneer Elite SC-07 - AV network receiver - 7.1 channel Review

(More customer reviews)I recently purchased the Pioneer Elite SC-07 receiver. It replaced my old Elite VSX-72TXV receiver. Along with the receiver, I purchased the Polk RTi A7 front speakers, CSi A6 center channel, FXi A4 surrounds and DSW Pro 500 subwoofer. I have the Kuro Elite PRO-111FD display to compliment the set up. The result is just breath taking sight and sound.
When you first turn on the receiver without any calibration, you can hear and feel the raw power. After the full automated calibration and some manual minor fine tunings, I couldn't be happier. The first thing you'll notice is the clean, powerful yet natural sound output the receiver has to offer. If you're not into manual calibration, let the receiver do the full auto calibration. That'll make a world of difference. All of the video components are connected via HDMI, so I can't really comment on the performance of the Faroudja upconverting chipset. Just like the former Elite receivers, SC-07 comes with ipod connection (a USB port instead of a cable this time around). The GUI is much easier to use compared to Denon receivers. I like the fact that the menus are straight forward enough to navigate through the settings easily without referring to the manual every single time.
Initially, I was going to wait for SC-27 to come out. Then again, the major difference between the two are color GUI with the ability to show the album art work on the ipod and a different upconverting chip. Personally, I don't care about the extra bells and whistles. Amazon (3rd party retailers) probably have the best pricing I've seen so far. I have no regrets and I'm looking forward to enjoying it for quite some time.

Yamaha MCR-230BL Micro Component System (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I've been a big fan of Yamaha receivers for many years. If you buy towards the top of the range, you won't be disappointed. I still own a DSP-A3090, an R100, and an MCR-E300GLC mini-system. All have performed heroically over the years with virtually no problems. When I saw the MCR-230BL advertised, the USB and iPod inputs were the draw. I assumed that since it was a Yamaha product, it would have intuitive controls and at least one aux input (shame on me for not checking this out beforehand). First of all, the controls are a mess. To make very basic adjustments in tone, you have to dive into a menu system that should be an example to designers everywhere of how to frustrate your customers. I suspect 80% of people that buy this will never figure out how to adjust bass and treble. There should have been dedicated knobs for this but I understand the necessity of controlling cost. Regardless, there are many examples of good menu driven controls. In this case, the controls are awful. Secondly, there are no aux inputs. Forget connecting anything else to this other than an iPod and usb device. Thirdly, this is available with or without the speakers. I was intrigued by the unusal depth of the speakers so I bought these as well. Save your money. The speakers lack any semblance of realistic midrange, bass or smooth treble. I've owned many speakers and understand these are basically throw-aways but was hoping Yamaha might have produced a diamond in the rough among cheap speakers. No such luck. So what's to like? The iPod functionality is good. The remote controls most anything you will need to control in the iPod. It has an output for a sub. The usb input is cool. I've connected several flash dives and a 40Gb portable, usb powered hard drive. All worked well. I finally ran a mini-jack to rca cable from the headphone output of this to my other Yamaha mini-system so I get the better sound quality and controls. If you are considering buying this, I'd look at something a little more sophisticated from Yamaha or Denon, something you will be happy to use for many years. If you want iPod connectivity with controls, there are many iPod docks that can be connected to any receiver, some of which have remotes and other nice features but all of which will cost far less than this unusual mis-step by Yamaha.

(More customer reviews)After downloading all the latest firmware I find this phone to have stunning capabilities but it is oh so complicated to use!! I believe an entire one semester class would be required to learn how to effectively use ALL this phone is capable of. I finally had to shuffle most apps to hidden folders and remove the SIM card so it would be usable as a mere gps trip planner/mp3 player/wifi information/and streaming entertainment gizmo. One tap on the wrong key and you'll end up streaming data off the cell tower and the meter will spin wildly until your prepaid account is empty! Best to buy a separate basic cell phone, preferably a net10, and use the E52 for everyting else. It's kind of like having a fabulously complex watch that tells everything but the time!!! Even so it's still an amazing device and a better music player than any I've ever seen or heard, with proper ear buds.
