(More customer reviews)PROs: The only good things I have to say about EnGenius products in general is they are economically priced as compared to other brands, and are very flexible for a variety of uses.
CONs:
After wasting two solid days troubleshooting, multiple phone calls (most with >30 minute wait) to the support line talking to a "specialist" who knew less about the details of the setup than I did, we finally gave up.
At the present time, the firmware has a bug that will not allow the 5ghz radio to operate as a client bridge except on open/unencrypted links. It works great as an open network but as soon as you turn on encryption it wont connect (while other devices connect fine).
Even the RMA they sent me failed as well. At the time of this review they did not have an ETA to fix the condition.
There were also numerous other bugs such as improperly formatted DST settings (it makes you enter specific dates (eg mar 1 to Nov 12) and not the specific days of the months that the USA uses (eg "first Sunday in march to second sunday in november") and the physical markings on the device dont correspond with the actual settings on the board (WLAN MACs are improperly labeled) This isnt the first time they have improperly labeled items. I purchased another model from them a year ago, and the documentation listed the antenna connectors as SMA when they were in reality RP-SMA.
they also do not use standard 802.3af PoE injectors. You must use thier provided injectors for power, and it is not compatible with managed midspan PoE injectors or PoE switches. The product idea is decent. But at this time I have to say run away as fast as you can from this device. Maybe in 6 months or so once they have had a chance to correct the firmware issues it will be OK. but not now.
