(More customer reviews)I don't really enjoy writing sour or scathing reviews, because I want to think manufacturers make devices that are really good! But in this case, I had the rough duty of some brutal honesty. I hope this is helpful and not seen as just a complaint!
This is sold as a portable device, but it doesn't have a handle and in many ways is designed to consume as much space as possible with an awkward flat oval egg shape. From the very beginning, I started my awkward relationship with this device with a fumble and a stumble... I continued and gave it a chance.
When turning it on, it gives what a computer person knows is a touch screen calibration cross hair-- if you didn't know what this was, you might even think the unit didn't work! There was no message saying "press the cross hair as it moves to calibrate the screen!"
The screen itself functioned fine, though it didn't have the clarity you get with a capacitive touch screen, it was good. It is a little spongy when you touch it due to the type of screen.
The sound quality was quite good, but navigating the menus was not all that pleasant, simple or visually appealing. I can think of other devices that sound as good but take up less space if we're just going for sound... but I continued on. At this point with the device I found myself asking-- the iPhone has a really great menu system as do many MP3 players-- I see why so many other manufacturers just have a dummy speaker system and utilize the menu on the device! It makes sense! But here, we went a different route.
It didn't take much time with the device to conclude it wasn't one for me. I felt like it was trying to solve a problem that didn't exist. It looks simple from a design perspective, but in this case for me it complicated operation.
From the perspective of the remote control, I agree with other reviewers that it didn't share enough functionality with the touch screen to be of use.
It's pretty uncommon that I feel pretty uninspired by a product, but with this one, we didn't hit it off from the moment we met. There may be some people for whom this device makes the perfect solution to a specific need or problem. I haven't yet been able to imagine what that might be, though!?
