(More customer reviews)I am not sure what the other reviewers are comparing this phone to, but I can say this is the best smartphone I have ever owned. I've been using the phone for four months. Here is what you should know about the phone:
1) Phone sports a beautiful 800 x 480 touch screen. The touch screen is very responsive compared to other touchscreen phones I've used, with the exception of the iPhone -- which is the gold standard in touch responsiveness -- but doesn't have nearly as many features.
2) The Xperia is infinitely customizable. The panels allow you to quickly switch between home screens for Search, Facebook, Skype, Weather, Photo Slideshow and many more.
3) I also love Windows Mobile. The phone can do almost anything. All of the features of the most advanced smartphone are available; MMS, Video recording, File Explorer, Micro SD Card, Cut & Paste, WiFi, Stereo Bluetooth and the best Exchange E-Mail integration available.
4) Although the OS is a bit dated, there are thousands of third party applications developed for it that anything it cannot do out of the box can easily be added to the device via third party software. A couple of applications I could not do without are SPB Mobile Shell, eWallet, Google Maps, Astraware Solitaire, Opera Browser, Live Search, WMWifiRouter not to mention the native Microsoft Office applications -- Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. All of these applications run perfectly on the Xperia X1.
5) The only things I'd like to see changed on the device are a bigger screen and improved keyboard. The screen size is 3.0 inches and I'd prefer 3.2 or 3.5 inches. The keyboard is made of flat steel keys in a small form factor that my fingers slide to easily over.
There's much more to the phone than I can give credit to in this forum, but I have been using Windows Mobile phones for about 9 years and find the SE Xperia X1a the best yet. PROS:
* Slim design, executive look

* AGPS. 100% accurate when you choose My Location. Associated with
google maps is an A+. (Why pay for something that is already part of the
phone...That goes for you VERIZON!!!!).
* Opera Browser works great (sorry Internet Explorer)
* Touchscreen is very responsive (if you do not want screen to vibrate,
you can disable it in SETTINGS.
* Stylus, I do not use it. my fingers do the job excellent.
* Push E-Mail. I get all my emails from work, POP accounts, Gmail, (which
is already integrated in the phone), and of course windows live
messenger.
* Video player is very good, good resolution, great audio. (One thing
I dicovered today is that I can listen to Internet radio, WOW!!)
* My 5 Faves...NOT REALLY, but keep reading, (in this case 4 faves, yes, one of the widgets lets you add 4
people you call the most just like my five faves.) I am using my Omnia
with T-mobile and this came very handy.)
* Microsoft Office, YES! you have Excel, Word, Power Point. All 3 are
mobile version, you can read and edit any documents as you wish. you
also can read .pdf files, isn't that something?? you will love this
phone.
CONS:
* I personaly, don't have any negative comments on this phone, but I will
mention one that I know bothers some people out there, that is:

NO 3G Network compatibility in the USA. This phone was made exclusively
for Asia and Europe and their 3G works on a different band. But I tell
you one thing, Internet over EDGE is very good, so I really don't care
at all about 3G speed. So keep this in mind....NO 3G in the USA.
Over All, this is a great phone. you will have to take your time to play with it to find all its features and how to make them work for you. Don't get frustrated if you don't get it to work the way you want the first time. It took me a good week to figure this phone out and now I am very excited I chose this phone. Iphone is a thing of the past, which I never had but my friends have it and some of them are not too happy with it, plus, they got stuck in a contract. Here you don't have to do that.

(More customer reviews)I have had the phone for over 24 hours so far. Great phone. Good sound, good voice, fast O.S. Good signal reception all around, though in N. NJ that is not really a problem.
I charged it initially at home with the included AC charger, and at the office hooked it up with the included USB cable and saw the phone charging while I was playing with it and synching up my calendar.
I swapped my SIM card from the old phone, (HTC Hermes/ATT 8525), to this one and it worked right away. ATT mediaNet needed no configuration even though I had only added data/texting to my account from online only minutes before. WiFi works well in my home. This is my first time using ATT MediaNet so I can't really comment, but it helped me compare prices on a microwave oven from inside a store. Amazon got an order for a microwave once I got home and I saved over $50. It is nice not hunting for a WiFi signal as I used to do. Glad I finally succumbed to paying for ATT's service. I am not comfortable with Nokias included browser yet, but it seems to work well. I may try Opera.
I can work with office documents and synch up with my outlook calender faster than I could with my old HTC/ATT Win 6.1 smart phone. Nokia PC Suit is leagues ahead of MS Active Synch, and puts Motorola's software to the shame it deserves.
Folks that play with it are amazed at how fast the phone responds when selecting applications. Instant response instead of a second or so wait as many Windows based phones have.
The one issue I have had is I can not get the included headset to work properly as a headset. I suspect it is intended as just a music headset, but no matter what I do I can not get loud enough sound out of it, and the manual has no mention of it other than showing where to plug it in. When you attach the headset the phone asks what you want to use it as. Whether I select headset or headphones it does not seem to work well. The phone will warn you to use the phone mic. I recommend getting a better headset/headphones when you buy the phone, I am doing that right after I post this. Maybe with more use I can sort it out. I only tested it by calling my office voice mail, since I did not want to annoy friends and family by making them guinea pigs.
This brings up the 3.5 mm jack the phone has. I am often on support calls. Sometimes for hours at a time. (Yes, I am an I.T. peon). I did not consider this when thinking about the phone, but there are NO standard headsets that use 3.5 jacks that I can find, they almost all use 2.5. The headsets that do use 3.5 are either iPhone style earbuds, which I find very uncomfortable, or ones intended for PC gaming, which use TWO plugs and are not usable on a phone. Not an over-the-ear one in the bunch. So I am stuck using bluetooth, which loses power fast and can't last long anough, or getting a clunky adapter so I can use a standard 2.5 mm headset, or trying an iphone earbud style headset that has the microphone in the wire, not on a boom, which has poor voice quality compared to a boom and hurts my ears after a few minutes. Slightly disappointing.
I do like having the hidden qwerty keyboard, as I did with my prior phone, so that it is there when needed for documents, email, texting etc, but out of the way otherwise. Someday I may try a tablet-style phone, like the E71 or a blackberry, but this works well for me.
One big reason I got this phone is the number pad for dialing. While touch screens are nice, having them as the only interface to the phone is a mistake.If you need to dial a number fast, such as 911, it can be very tough to do. Number pads are better, and if the primary use of the phone is as, well, a PHONE, it makes sense. It fits easily into my shirt pocket. I do not need to hang it on my belt and feel like Batman as I would with a tablet PDA.
But touch screens are useful. I think this phone would benefit from one for navigating the menus, it would probably be faster than using the various keys. The screen could be larger, there would be room to extend it if Nokia moved the logo from the top of the phone.
There is a lot left to play with on this, like the multiple profiles, etc. So there is still more to learn on this.
But all-in-all, even with the headset issue, this is the best phone I have had yet, whether smart-phone or not. If this is an indication of where Nokia is going, they are going in the right direction.

(More customer reviews)I picked this phone up for my wife, replacing her aging E51. Overall, it's an improvement over the E51, despite it not being intended as a replacement for it.
She loved the form factor of the E51, and is willing to tolerate the added thickness of the E75 in exchange for the slide out qwerty. She wanted to do email and facebook on the phone, primarily, so the qwerty was definitely on the menu as far as she was concerned.
Build quality isn't as good as my E71, though it's pretty good. when working on the qwerty, it feels a bit cheap in my hands, though I suspect that's a common problem with phones of this genre. Application-wise, everything worked, except for repeated problems she had with the built-in Mail for Exchange support (Google Sync for Mail, Contacts & Calendar). This was positively awful. So unreliable, that we wound up purchasing a license for RoadSync, which has proven to be quite acceptable for her. This fact demonstrates that it wasn't a service-related problem, rather a software one.
Battery life is decent, though she's not a super-heavy data user. I'm pleased with S60 3.0 FP2's use of AP groups, allowing you to stack the home wifi above carrier gprs/hspa, which is a huge improvement over FP1 devices. Nice touch - it can charge over the micro-usb connector, a welcome change for Nokia devices.

I am a phone app developer and have had some 'face time' with the Nokia N97. I'll let you know some of the more in depth details so you can decide if this is the right phone for you or not. There are many positive features about this phone, but a few potential pitfalls for power users as well. Average users will probably never notice any of the pitfalls, but probably will never use some of the best features of this phone either to justify the cost.
This is the new Nokia flagship phone and it packs almost every feature anyone could ever want. It has a DVD quality camcorder with sample videos found here:

Notice how well the mic picks up the creeks of the boats in Monte Carlo, and how rich the colors look. That is due to the Carl Zeiss lens Nokia has put in. The quality is also great and can be sent directly to the TV via the TV out cable, but I would recommend making a DVD from the memory card as the quality of the cable isn't as good as the DVD quality this phone provides. Video starts up quickly, which is an improvement from the previous versions.
The pictures taken by this phone are of very good quality. Many consumers are fooled by 'megapixels' (mp). Well folks, after 5mp or so, mp doesn't mean much. All it does is make your picture size better, it does NOT increase the QUALITY. I assume most of us aren't pro graphic artists that need huge pictures to zoom in on the most minute detail, and if you are, then you probably don't need this review :P
The lens and picture quality of this phone is superb, but not as good as the Samsung 8 sadly. It is by far tho, one of the best mobile phone cameras around. You can notice some problems in darker areas and they went with a dual LED flash instead of the Xeon gas flash. The Xeon gas flash would have provided much better lighting in low light situations, however as a phone enthusiast I feel it's good enough.

This phone is a TRUE smart phone OS which means you can download apps for it such as VPN software to connect to your office network and apps such as PUTTY or RDP clients to remote control real computers at the house/office. With 3G speeds the potential is limitless.Now for the bad. Nokia decided to use the old ARM II CPU found in the N85, 95, etc. phones but increased the clockspeed (mhz) slightly. We were looking forward to the new TI cpu which would have provided much better speeds, at the cost of battery life. They also stuck with 128mb ram with about 80mb available after boot up. I don't know about you but after I load up all of my apps and get cranking, I eat that up. I was able to notice some slow down in the pre-build when I:
-opened up several websites w/ flash content
-ran the music player
-opened up 'widget' applications
-tried basic functionality
Most users will probably never do that. If you are a power user, then you probably already know about the Samsung Omnia HD which boasts of similer features, but also the new faster CPU and dedicated GFX chip which means you can play Ipod type 3d games with ease. The final point is with the potentially underpowered CPU, you will not be able to play the super high resolution videos the Samsung can play.
Finally this phone has the slower 3G speeds which don't reach 7mbps, will you need 7mbps? Probably not. I think for 99% of users, the current 3G speeds offered by this phone are fine.
I tried out the phone and pre-ordered, I can't wait to get it. I can't wait to develop some 'widget' applications for it and really see the power of this phone with the newer more stable build.

(More customer reviews)This is a nice phone from the reviews on the internet - i bought one from the OEM shop and i am not sure that they are selling new phones I got no manual, just a little booklet with about 4 pages of english, the phone wasnt sealed in even a plastic bag, THe seal was broken and a sticker saying "inspected by OEM Team" All over the phone there appears links and connectivity (Like "KoreaR&D_1" etc) options as though it was used to test the phone, i cant seem to use lgsync, I cant find a manual nor go and get new apps for it anywhere. I dont think this phone is a production phone. i cant change the home page, i really love the phone an i went ahead an bought accessories for it, now i feel as though I bought something that was misrepresented in the advertising - as "new". I wrote them and they did not respond.

So far with the use I had give it it's loosing its consistence and the screen is more loose rather than conserving its tight to the panel.
Other than that it is great I'm happy with my new phone, the software is OK but talking about HTC Likes lacks of software reviews and features, but that's not a problem if you use Android Marked instead.

(More customer reviews)I was extremely excited to open up the Nokia N96, because from its specs it looked to be one of the most powerful mobile phones on the market. It certainly lived up to its expectations in some areas, and exceeds them in others, but fell short with some very common issues.
For anyone looking for a camera/media device that also does phone calls, this might have been a serious contender.
The media player works well for audio, the built-in FM tuner is great, and the internet radio feed was easy to use and loaded with content. This phone does everything well, but not nearly well enough to justify its astronomical price tag.

Things Done Right:
Browser - The browser on the phone rendered the pages I tried perfectly and it was very easy to navigate using the device. Bookmarks and other features you'd want were all there.
FM Radio - This worked like a charm! It was very cool to have this in a mobile device.
Light Weight - The phone weighs considerably less than my AT&T Fuze and Tilt.
Massive Storage - The phone's best feature is its internal 16 GB of storage.
Looks - Trust me when I say the phone looks even better in person.

Half-Way There:
Mapping - Rather than relying on a live internet feed for maps, it had very detailed maps of the US right on the phone. This is great if you are in an area with patchy service and need directions. But, it's no Google Maps. I've been spoiled by having Google Maps on my Windows Mobile phones for some time now, and while the mapping application on this phone is good, it's not Google Maps. Plus, many of the advanced features of this application require an extra fee such as turn-by-turn directions and traffic reports.
WiFi - Connecting the phone to my home wireless network with WPA/PSK was a breeze. HOWEVER, many of the features on the phone such as the mapping tool, internet radio, and others required use of data plan, even if you were connected via WiFi. And despite trying, I could never get it to connect to my computer for WiFi Sharing.
Help - The phone has online help for nearly every menu, most of which was well-written and useful. Some of the more rare settings had no help, however.
Camera - While this phone won't replace your $200 digital camera, it's better than what I've seen on most mobile phones. I especially liked the on-screen menus for making adjustments on the fly. The flash on the back of the camera is great for close-up subjects.
Voice Command - There is a utility which reads you your messages to you, which was pretty neat. And, you can dial your contacts through voice command, plus launch applications. Unfortunately, that's all. Voice command apps on other devices allow you to dial numbers as they are spoken, play specific media, or dictate text messages.

More Work Needed:
No Keyboard - This device lacks both a keyboard and touch screen, limiting all input to the numeric pad and a plethora of other buttons. If you are a heavy text/emailer, this is going to be a deal-breaker for you.
IM Difficult - The phone includes an IM application, but it was intimidating to configure with settings that I had no clue about. Other phones include apps which are preconfigured for Yahoo, AIM, and MSN, but that was not the case here. The manual and help were useless here.
Micro USB - Every portable device I own uses Mini USB for sync and charging, but the Nokia N96 introduces the even smaller Micro USB. That means that I need to carry yet another cable.
No USB Charge - To make it worse, you cannot charge via USB. While the phone comes with an AC charger and a car charger, its proprietary and means yet ANOTHER cable to carry.
WMV Playback - Despite being touted as a media player, the phone would not play any of the WMV files I copied to it. These were non-DRM files that worked fine on other phones.
AGPS - The manual claims that the phone supports Assisted GPS (to speed up your positioning) but it would not work.
Other Annoyances - There were a few other things that bothered me about the phone. For instance, the music playback stuttered while using the phone for text messaging or mapping, and there was no option to disable the power-saving features while on AC power.

In Conclusion:
For the price that this phone sells for, and comparing it to other devices on the market at half the price, I find it very hard to justify recommending the phone to anyone.
Its only real saving grace is the 16 GB of storage, although some of its competitors will support memory cards with 4-16 GB of capacity.
If the price came down considerably, and they issued a software upgrade to fix several of the above issues, it would probably beat its competitors hands-down. But until then, I recommend passing this phone up for any of its half-priced competitors.

Accessing internet videos is quick and simple. The Nokia N96 supports common video formats including MPEG-4, Windows Media Video and Flash Video, making favorite videos easy to view. The Nokia Video Center also offers one place to discover and access a variety of mobile content ranging from movie trailers and comedy to news from world-leading content brands such as YouTube, Reuters, and Sony Pictures. (More customer reviews)There is so much to be said about this phone, so I will just break it down into different categories, lets begin!:Screen: The beset in the business, as good as the Retina display, all angles of this phone look good, the brightness is great, I keep the brightness level on 4 out of 10, and I am perfectly fine with that 24/7 be it night time or day time. Sometimes when it is really dark that is too bright (!), so I have to actually set it on 2/10, so just imagine what full brightness looks like, it is just an amazing display. I watched Avatar on this phone and I would argue it looks better then on the TV, and with the great built in sound (both external and headphone sound)this thing blasts. A lot of people complain, that this phone has poor sunlight legibility well I am here to tell you that there has been no problem for me, I live in Orlando, FL and the sun is out all the time and I can read it better then any other phone I have had before this, so no complaints here.Build: They did not skip anything with materials here, the FEEL is just great, you think it would be too thin but it feel just perfect, I had an N900 before this phone which was a brick, and this is a breath of fresh air. I have the all black model and it is very sleek, much better looking then the burgundy looking color that is shown in most videos on this phone. The back of this phone uses what appears to be a brushed aluminum look, but when you take the battery cover off, it is a solid piece of metal with no gaps anywhere, great job Samsung! Also this is one of the newer phones these days, which have a little door that blocks the charging port from getting dust/damaged.Multimedia: As stated I watched Avatar on this thing and it blew my mind. One thing I REALLY like about this phone, is that you do not have to down convert these videos, just put the video on your memory card, and the video player will automatically adjust the resolution which is very neat. The music player is also spectacular, this phone uses Samsung DNSE technology and the music really sounds great, better then my Gen 1 Iphone (actually MUCH better). When you hold the phone horizontal it shows CD's, what you do is you can scroll through the CD's and what is neat is the album art is on top of these CD's, so it feels like you are actually going through a CD collection. There are cool ways to browse albums as well, there is a circular alphabet dial that you touch and it takes you alphabetically to whatever letter you are looking for, once you let go it takes you straight to that letter to browse the albums. Also when you are listening to a song, one swipe across the screen (to the right) takes you to the next track and the swipe to the left takes you to the previous track.Internet Browser: The Browser is great, and shows flash! It has a control similar to the iphone, basically pinch zooming to go in and out. Also accelerometer mode work in the browser as well as the full on screen QWERTY. Not to mention scaling all of the sites perfect for viewing. There really isn't much to say here, other then the browser experience is amazing and that it is as good as anything out there from any other brand. Camera/Video: The Camera on this phone is one of the best 5MP shooters available on the market. It is VERY fast to shoot, compared to the many other 5MP camera phones I have owned, including the N900 and N97. It also has the new touted "Touch Focus" feature that is becoming a big thing these days, basically touch an area on the screen, the focus area will go align there, then when you hold down the snapshot key, it will focus exactly where you touch, I have tried this thoroughly and it is NO gimmick it actually works and works damn well. I took some pictures of a tree and made sure it focused up top, and sure enough the focus ended up there. There is also face and smile detection, the face detection worked just fine, the smile detection I have not tested that as of yet. Now for the video recording it is better then Iphone 4, there I said it. Don't believe me? Go on Youtube and compare it yourself, at the time of this writing this is the VERY best 720P recording phone, nothing is better, not even the Galaxy S no point in arguing, head over to Youtube and see the samples for yourself. Specifically go look at Mobile Burn's Samsung Wave Video's they show the power of the video recording on this thing. I plan on uploading my own video within the next week on Youtube, there is a slew of them already. Cons: All great things have problems, and so does this phone. The first problem I have, and someone has already touched on this is the fact that Samsung Kies is terrible, it is a great interface and looks good, but I have never been able to connect this to my phone. I always get some weird error that actually mentioned there is an error, it looks something like a regular error message you see when you use something on windows and the bar pops up. The second problem, is the APP store is NOT (at this time) available in the US that means when you access the app icon on this phone, it just takes you nowhere (stays at APP start up screen), what you are suppose to do if you own this phone in the US, to get apps, is download the app in Kies and then transfer everything to the phone. But clearly as you can see that is a huge problem that does not work for me, I run Windows 7 64 Bit by the way. Finally, the last and final thing about this phone that one of the reviewers touched on, (wrongfully so by giving it a one star) this phone does not support ATT OR Tmobile 3G. I personally don't care, Im at home 90% of the time and the N wifi is flawless with full bars always. I find 3G to be overpriced, but maybe this is just me, this thing has a great browser though as stated previously, so if you are browsing Wifi and looking for a phone with a good browser don't think twice.As you can see, the quality overall is really amazing and on of the best phones I have ever used, do not hesitate to pick this one up!

At first there were some problems initializing the phone to communicate with Nokia PC Suite on the Vista platform but that was eventually sorted out and other than that it was a really good buy. The Nokia N73 is the perfect solution for when you need a powerful phone for business and pleasure. This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides quad-band connectivity (850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz).
