(More customer reviews)This unit is excellent. Hey I'm a girl and had no problems installing and setting this up. Very easy. Far exceeds the 8600 model I just took out. The 5v is just what my system was lacking and sounds better than ever. Love it. Just hope it doesn't have opening or ejecting problems like the 8600. If so I'll be sure to repost. I say it's definitely worth the money. With all the features and settings how can your system not sound great.
Update: It has been 8 months since my above review and I'd like to add that it is still...The Best!!!

You really can't be sure of what you'll get since the listing is titled "WiFi Internet Radio".... Someone from Amazon should clear up the confusion here... I wouldn't buy until this is clarified...
Addendum - I called Amazon and they said they would correct the listing ASAP. I'd still be wary...

This thing does everything it's supposed to. The sound is cd quality and it comes with everything you need. Including the antenna with 20 feet of cord. The read out is very easy to read. My husband and I absolutely love it and recommend the audiovox to everyone.

(More customer reviews)For the longest time, I resisted geting a GPS. Any soldier worth his stripes should be able to figure out his ground position to within 100m just by comparing the ground to his map, and maybe shooting a bearing with his compass.
But then I picked up a cheapie Garmin Etrex, and while it doesn't replace the map and terrain reading skills (by a long shot) the ability to generate an exact position fix at a moment's notice comes in very handy, especially when one is operating in an unfamilliar area. GPS may be a crutch, but it is an *effective* crutch.
There were a few small problems with the Etrex though. It was very sensitive to sky view, such that it often lost signal inside a vehicle unless it was on the dash. It didn't do mapping, and it would eat AA batteries at a ferocious rate. With the newer, fancier units on the market, I started thinking about upgrading.
Many of the troops in my unit have Rino 120 FRS/GPS units. It can be handy to have an additional means of communication other than the issue radios, and the position reporting function was interesting, so I bought a Rino 520 - specifically a 520 vice a 530 because of reports of better battery life, and the extra geegaws on the 530 didn't seem to have much practical purpose.
Wow!
1) The 520 has tons of memory, such that I could upload topo maps for every area I was likely to operate in and still have room to spare. The detail and accuracy has been outstanding, and having street names (which the issue 1:50k maps lack) has been a godsend.
2) It is much less sensitive to sky cover than the Etrex was. It'll still lose signal if (say) stuffed in a glovebox, but it'll work on your lap in a vehicle, where the Etrex would not.

3) The "breadcrumb" track mapping means I can record everywhere I go, and then download the tracks to my computer later via Mapsource - which can then be overlaid on satellite imagery via Google Earth (which has already proven useful in proving that I was at a certain place at a certain time)
4) The routing function and the turn-by-turn instructions were recently tested on a 900km road move, and worked - although the unit made a couple of odd suggestions, and I think it may have been hampered by not having detail maps loaded for the entire route.
5) It has a nifty "alarm clock" mode, where you set the alarm, and the unit shuts off - and then turns itself on and screeches at the appropriate time. Cool!
6) The data pages are customizable, meaning you can set up pages that contain just the info you need.
7) The radio and position location/transmit functions work exactly as advertised. I don't yet have a good feel for the max range of the radio (even in 5W mode) but it's not huge. The speaker gets all distorted at max volume, but when used with an earbud it is just fine. My gut tells me the radio is fair to good.
8) The only real concern I've had has been battery life and the fact that it uses a proprietary batty pack that must be recharged from wall current - which can be tough to find sometimes. But so far, battery life has been exceptional (a three day exercise with heavy radio use only dropped to 60%, and a 2-day road move with the radio turned off finished at 90% used) and an add-on pack that uses normal AA batteries (at the cost of dropping max transmit power to 2W) is availible.
Overall, this is a great unit, and highly recommended.

Tivoli Audio SongBook AM / FM Alarm Clock Travel Radio, Silver Review

(More customer reviews)The new Tivoli Songbook is one sweet, versatile radio. I was reluctant to order it because it was brand new model and I couldn't find any reviews, but I'm glad I overcame my reluctance and purchased this radio. I consider it expensive for an AM/FM radio so I expect serious performance for the money--I was not disappointed. It's Tivoli, so I expected sound quality and Tivoli delivers. The sound isn't quite as full as the Model One, but it's more than adequate. For talk radio, it's simply the best sound I've heard from any radio.
One reason I hesitated purchasing was because I planned to use this as a table radio more than a travel radio--the lack of external antenna jacks was a concern because I have trouble with AM reception in my area. The real surprise was the reception--this small radio locked on and pulled in signals that I have trouble pulling in with some of my better radios like the GE Superadio or Grundig Satellit 800--all while delivering a clear, clean signal. Admittedly, I'm not a DXer, and I'm not suggesting this is the radio for that purpose, but it's performance, particularily on AM, is impressive for such a small package.
Performance was great using the aux input on a Sirius tuner as well as MP3 and CD.
Overall, it has the look and feel--as well as performance--of a quality product.
One thing that you should be aware of--this model uses an outboard transformer--a relatively large wall wart. That negates some of the travel versatility, IMO, but isn't a problem for home use. One of the smart design features is the wall hang slot on the back--I promptly mounted the thing over my nightstand and cleared off the space formerly eaten up by my cheap, tinny sounding clock radio.
It's a rare day that a product meets my expectations, much less exceeds them, but this is a great radio!

(More customer reviews)You get what you pay for with this dvd reciever. In my experience, it does everything it claims to, but not very well and not very easily. The bluetooth function works ok as a hands-free device. I have installed a backup camera and it works well. I have had no problems loading or unloading dvd's and/or cd's. The menu's are absolutely horrible and there are a bunch of functions that can only be accessed with the remote control. The user manual that comes with the unit is a joke.
As advertised is does have Ipod control onscreen, but it is barebones at most. It brings up a screen that sort-of looks like the ipod screen and allows you to choose artist, album, genre, etc.... It starts at the beginning of the alphabet, but won't let you scroll backwards through it so it takes forever to get to the later artists. You can only play one album from an artist at a time and it will not automatically go to the next album when the first is done playing. It takes you back to the screen to choose an artist, album, genre, etc... thus making you go through the lengthy process of scrolling back down to the artist and manually choosing the next album.
The USB input is ok. I have a 16 gb flash drive with music and movies on it and it plays both the music and video just fine. Again, the user controls leave a lot to be desired, but overall it does what it says it will.
Another negative is that it seems that the unit is slightly larger than the typical double din unit. I have purchased two different install kits and have found that the unit is slightly to large to fit in the install kit. I had to take my dremel and open up the hole in the install kit in order to make it fit. This leaves the install looking less than professional. I have installed many many different car stereos and have never come up against this problem before now.
I had never purchased anything from Boss Audio before and thought I would take a chance on this unit since it had all the features I wanted at less than half the price of name brand units, but now I wish I had waited and saved enough to purchase a nicer unit.
Overall, if you have the money it is definately worth it to go with a nicer name brand unit. On the other hand, if you have a small budget and a lot of time to play with it to figure out how to use it, this unit does have a lot of features (even if they are difficult to access).
